Tropic Sun Theatre Company Newsletter October 2007

Welcome to our latest TROPIC SUN Newsletter

Dear Enews Reader,

Last week we invited a small focus group at a run-through of OEDIPUS THE KING and got some excellent feedback – with our (tiny) audience very much enjoying and appreciating the extraordinary imagery in the production.

They also commented on the slight spine-tingle from realising that they were watching a play that was written two and a half thousand years ago and has one of the most known stories of all – that Oedipus himself was the bearer of the curse that he would grow up to kill his father and marry his mother.

The play uses many of the traditional elements of Greek Theatre of 450BC – including masks, and the Townsville Bulletin’s colour magazine EYE, of this Wednesday is running a feature picture story on how we make the masks – it will be well worth a read before seeing the production.

OEDIPUS is quite short – a running time of about an hour and a half, and it opens this week on Wednesday 17th playing just one week, till Saturday 20th at 8pm and on Sunday 21st at 5pm.

We think you will find that it will leave you with some haunting images.

You can phone bookings to 4721 5433 or use our NEW book-on-line via the website at www.tropicsun.com.au  and there are delicious dinners available at 7.15pm (before the show) on each of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Have a complete night out and let us do the cooking!

See you at OEDIPUS THE KING
