Kate Hooper

Kate graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Theatre in 2005. The roles she played at University included:

Susan in Don’s Party
Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Jocasta in Seneca’s Oedipus.

Her professional debut was in 2005, as Jean Harlow in Tropic Sun’s production of Michael McClure’s The Beard. In 2006 she performed in Duncan Sarkies’ Lovepuke and later as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet which was one of the first Theatre To The Edge productions – touring to Cairns.

This was followed by Tom Eyen’s The White Whore and the Bit Player and Todd Barty’s Goldilockpick and Little Red Riding Hoodlum later that year. After taking a year off, Kate returned with a startling performance in Tropic Sun’s Futz, which also toured as a Theatre To The Edge production to Mackay, Cairns and Darwin.

Kate is very excited to have gone over with Futz to South Korea recently to perform in The 12th Suwon Hwaseong Fortress International Theatre Festival as it was her first time over-seas. Kate was last seen on stage making a guest appearance in the production of 3 Blokes & Their Barbie’s, which will be seen touring around Queensland early 2009.
