Tom E. Lewis as Othello and Andrew Hale as Iago
heading a large and exciting cast of Townsville's leading talent, this stirring story of romance and tragedy takes on new significance beneath the starry Townsville sky.
The young Desdemona falls deeply in love with a famous general, the Moor, Othello, and travels with him to continue their idyll on the island of Cyprus. Jealous eyes and sick minds follow them and, before long, the ugliest of whispers echo in Othello's ears like approaching thunder. When the storm breaks over their island of dreams, nothing will stand in its path.
Nobody falls like a great man in love.
With inclement weather abounding, Tropic Sun was forced to move the production indoors to The Cowshed Theatre at JCU. In the space of 3 days, the set, lighting and everything involved had to be stripped down, moved and set up once again.
The staging of Othello entailed a lot of dedication by the cast, crew and volunteers. Sold out performances every night ensured that the 2007 production of Othello was a great success. All the hard work was well worth it.
