Set ‘on tour’ in an English town the midst of the blitz of World War II, it stars Bernie Lanigan as Sir, the last of the great, but dying breed of Actor-Managers, and Bill Munro as his faithful dresser who has been with Sir his entire working life.
This moving comedy unfolds amidst the bombs falling, and the profound belief that the “show must go on,” despite Sir being in a particularly bad way tonight, remembering who and where he is, let alone which Shakespeare play he is to perform in half an hour’s time. With a Herculean effort on the part of Norman the dresser, Sir does finally make it on stage and through the performance.
